Lighthouses have been around for centuries. Perhaps the earliest and well known lighthouse in history was the lighthouse at Alexandria over 2,ooo years ago.
Lighthouses are towers that are built near or even in seas or oceans to serve as a beacon or warning to ships that there is possible danger in the form of hidden rocks or reefs. The lighthouse is a tower with some sort of light source aided usually by glass lenses that cast a light in all directions, usually by rotating the light source inside the top of the tower.
